Foreign Policy Fellow – Pennsylvania Senate Democrat
The office of Senator Robert P. Casey, Jr. (D-PA) is looking for a Foreign Policy Fellow beginning October 2011. The Fellow will work closely with the Senator’s primary foreign policy advisor in supporting Senator Casey in his work on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, specifically his role as Chairman of the Subcommittee on Near Eastern and South Central Asian Affairs. The Fellow will be responsible for: preparing background materials and suggested questions for Committee Hearings; assisting with planning of Subcommittee Hearings chaired by Senator Casey; and support the Senator’s legislative and policy initiatives emerging from his work on the Foreign Relations Committee. The Fellow will also regularly meet with Pennsylvania constituents, outside advocacy groups, and NGO’s to share perspectives and exchange information on key foreign policy issues. The ideal candidate will possess a substantive knowledge of global affairs and have a strong understanding of the role Congress plays in the formulation of U.S. foreign policy. Preference will be provided to those with a strong regional expertise in the Middle East and South Asia. Successful applicant will also possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, as well as a demonstrated ability to work well in a fast-paced environment. Applicants must be in an established fellowship program and able to commit to a six-month rotation with the office, with preference given to those candidates able to commit to a longer duration.
