Executive Assistant for Scheduling & Outreach (Hartford, CT office) – Senator Chris Murphy (D-CT)

Democratic Senator seeks a team member to work directly with the Senator, senior staff and the outreach team to maintain the Senator’s schedule and perform outreach duties related to assigned issue areas.  Duties will include, but are not limited to written and oral communication with the Senator, senior staff and the outreach team, manage all production of the Senator’s schedule in Connecticut, including proactive and reactive meetings and events; evaluate requests for meetings with the Senator and determines best course of action; brief the Senator on all Connecticut scheduling activities; review and monitor the Senator’s personal mail, invitations and telephone calls; respond to all invitations, either by written correspondence or by personal telephone call; manage/oversee the Senator’s personal files, including all personal notes and correspondence; work with the DC office to make reservations for the Senator’s travel and makes arrangements for travel reimbursement; and prepare and provide the Senator with briefing materials prior to travel. Act as the representative for the Senator within assigned issue areas; attend meetings and events related to assigned issue areas; accompany the Senator to meetings and events relating to assigned issue areas; remain abreast of current legislative and non-legislative issues relating to assigned issue areas; assist the office in conceiving and executing events for the Senator, working with the outreach and communications teams; other duties as assigned.  The ideal candidate will be a team player, self-starter, detailed-oriented, and organized. The position requires excellent oral and written communication skills, attention to detail, computer proficiency (i.e. Word, Intranet Quorum, Outlook), and the ability to work independently and perform efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Training provided as needed. Connecticut ties are a plus but are not required.
