Deputy Staff Director – Senate Committee
Senate Committee seeks a senior-level staffer to serve as Deputy Staff Director. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, oversight of Legislative Branch agencies including Architect of the Capitol, Secretary of the Senate, Senate Commission on Art, Senate Sergeant at Arms, and U.S. Capitol Police. Specific responsibilities include oversight of operations, project completion, new policy initiatives, and review of certain agency contracts. Position oversees interagency coordination for security, communications, and continuity programs. This position involves substantial administrative policy development related to rules and regulations of the Senate. Deputy Staff Director serves as Acting Staff Director in the absence of the Staff Director, and provides a wide range of advice and guidance to the Committee’s activities and decisions. The Deputy Staff Director has a high degree of autonomy and decision making authority. Qualified candidates must possess at least 6 years total Congressional experience, with personal office Senate experience mandatory; knowledge and appreciation of Senate history, rules, and institutional practices; ability to identify and analyze programmatic or agency deficiencies; and financial, budgetary and management experience. Individuals must be U.S. Citizens and have, or be able to obtain, a Top Secret clearance.
