Systems Administrator – Democratic Senator
Democratic Senator seeks an experienced Systems Administrator (SA) to oversee technology for the DC and state offices. Responsibilities include installing, updating, maintaining and troubleshooting hardware and software. This will include, but not be limited to, office workstations, printers, Blackberries, servers and other office-related hardware. The SA provides support for a variety of issues and identifies, researches and resolves technical problems. The SA responds to telephone, email and in person requests for assistance and troubleshoots and resolves IT issues. The SA makes recommendations for the purchase of IT, office and communications equipment. The SA oversees the correspondence management system and trains staffers in its use. The SA updates the Senator’s website and works with outside vendors when appropriate. Ideal candidate will have prior experience in a technical support role and have experience with Windows server 2003/2007 permissions. Candidates will possess strong interpersonal and communication skills and be extremely organized. Candidates will also be highly motivated and able to multi-task. Required skills: proficiency with Windows, XP Professional and Mac OS X; proficiency with Microsoft Outlook and Apple Mail; proficiency with Blackberry Enterprise and various Blackberry devices; proficiency with Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Office Professional and Adobe Acrobat Professional; proficiency supporting users of software systems and web-based applications. Desired skills: proficiency in HTML, CSS and basic web authoring tools and understanding of Exchange and Active Directory.
