Law Clerk – Senate Democrat on Judiciary Committee

Democratic Senator on the Judiciary Committee seeks law student or recent law school graduate for law clerk position.  The law clerk will assist the Senator’s counsel and staff on all legislative and policy matters within the jurisdiction of the Judiciary Committee, including intellectual property, judicial nominations, criminal justice, civil rights, immigration, and constitutional law.  Responsibilities include assisting counsel in preparing for hearings, representing the Senator at meetings, and writing memos, speeches, and talking points.  Interested applicants must have a record of leadership and initiative.  The position requires strategic thinking, the ability to work independently, careful attention to detail, and outstanding oral communication and writing skills.  Ideal candidates must be able to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and possess strong legal, negotiation, and legislative skills.  J.D. is required.  This position is unpaid; the term is flexible.  Please e-mail a cover letter, which includes your availability to start, and resume to senate_employment@saa.senate.gov with 223212 as the job referral number in the subject line.
