Senator Warner’s office currently seeks fellowship candidates who demonstrate expertise with both technology and education policy (both elementary and higher ed). Duties would include interacting with relevant stakeholders, summarizing reports, hearings, & regulations, and aiding in the drafting of legislation. The candidate would need to be able to juggle multiple assignments in a fast-pace Senate office, often on issues that cross different legislative areas (and thus often interact with various legislative staff members). Knowledge of relevant federal statues, including ESEA/NCLB, America COMPETES, and EDA, and familiarity with the Department of Education and the Department of Commerce is expected. A history of interacting with executive agencies is preferred, including understanding of the rulemaking process.
