Deputy Director of Constituent Services (Dallas regional office) – Senator John Cornyn (R-TX)

U.S. Senator John Cornyn’s North Texas Regional Office, located in Dallas, Texas, is now accepting applications for the position of Deputy Director of Constituent Services to begin immediately. The Senator’s Dallas office assists constituents from throughout the state with their individual difficulties with federal agencies. For more information regarding constituent services, which is often referred to as casework, visit the “Help with Federal Agencies” section of Senator Cornyn’s website at http://cornyn.senate.gov. The Deputy Director of Constituent Services reports to and supports the Director of Constituent Services and would assist the Director with oversight and management of all casework. This is a full-time paid position with benefits. Salary commensurate with experience. Qualifications: minimum of a four-year college degree, minimum of 3-5 years of public service experience (at the federal/state level on the staff of an elected official or federal/state agency preferred.) strong written and oral communication skills, knowledge of the federal legislative process, must be detail oriented and possess critical thinking skills, ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment in fulfillment of responsibilities, knowledge of general office practices, procedures and computer applications, ability to be self-motivated and flexible while handling multiple tasks quickly with minimal supervision, ability to maintain a positive attitude and possess exceptional interpersonal skills in a deadline-driven work environment, temperament to handle difficult situations with tact and diplomacy. Responsibilities: assists the Director in reviewing and correcting Caseworkers’ correspondence to ensure prompt and accurate responses, assists the Director in screening and interviewing potential Caseworkers, assists the Director in training new Caseworkers, supports the Director as a liaison for the Senator with federal agencies and constituents by making agency inquiries and meeting with constituents, and will act as the director in her absence.
