Scheduler/Executive Assistant – Southern California House Democrat

Southern California Democrat seeks Scheduler/Executive Assistant for Washington, DC office.

Responsibilities include maintaining the Member’s daily and long-term schedules, processing all incoming invitations and meeting requests, coordinating travel arrangements, and communicating with constituents by phone and email to address requests, concerns, and questions. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented and extremely well-organized. Applicants should have previous scheduling experience (at least one year in a similar position).

Responsibilities also include driving the member (including nights and some weekends). A car and good driving record are required for this position. California ties and Spanish fluency are a plus.

* formulates legislative initiatives for assigned issue areas which includes:
* devising a legislative plan;
* drafting the plan into legislative form;

* gathering support for a bill or amendment from other Members, as well as appropriate interest groups;
* working with committees on legislation;

This is an unpaid position usually filled by someone in an official fellowship program. The fellowship is available starting in August/ September with flexibility on the end date. Senior Counsel/Professional Staffer – House Financial Services Committee (majority)

The House Financial Services Committee seeks a Senior Counsel or Professional Staffer to manage the Committee’s Capital Markets, Securities and Investment portfolio. This position manages a team of four counsels and professional staff.

The ideal candidate will have significant federal securities law policy experience, management   experience, excellent writing, analytical, and interpersonal/communication skills. The candidate must have demonstrated ability to prioritize, multi-task, meet deadlines, and present well to Members of Congress. Additionally, the candidate must be able to condense complex matters into digestible explanations for Members and staff.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, managing counsels and professional staff, advising the Chairman and Subcommittee Chairman on legislative and regulatory initiatives, planning legislative strategy, preparing for hearings/markups and House consideration of capital markets legislation, researching regulatory and legislative history, and writing memos, briefing papers and other documents to execute the Committee’s agenda. A positive attitude, collaborative/inclusive management style, and a strong belief in competitive markets and a free market system are essential. Scheduler – New York House Republican

Legislative Assistant (tax) – Senator Mark Warner (D-VA)

The office of Senator Mark R. Warner is seeking a legislative assistant to handle the tax portfolio, which will include staffing his work on the Senate Finance Committee. The ideal candidate should have deep knowledge and relevant experience working on issues related to tax policy, including federal tax incentives, tax administration, and the congressional tax scoring process.  Understanding of the congressional budget process is also a plus. Press Secretary/Digital Director – Congresswoman Cheri Bustos (D-IL)

Midwest member of Democratic House elected Leadership seeks an experienced, hardworking, tech-savvy and media proficient Press Secretary/Digital Director in her Washington, D.C. office. Ideal candidates will have prior on-the-record media experience. They will also have experience running a comprehensive digital media program including Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat and blast emails – all of which require being able to produce original graphics and videos. Legislative Assistant – Senator Gary Peters (D-MI)
