Duties include oversight of agencies within the Committee’s jurisdiction, outreach to stakeholder groups, researching and drafting legislation, staffing hearings, and preparing memorandum, statements, and speeches.
Please note that the salary is “commensurate with experience”.

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED:
Applicants must have significant experience in at least one of the following subject matter areas: basic or applied research, technology development, or standards development. All applicants should possess strong writing, organizational, and communication skills; the capacity to articulate technical and policy issues clearly and concisely; and the ability to meet tight deadlines. The ideal candidate will have some Capitol Hill or relevant government or industry experience, and an advanced degree or technical background. This not an entry-level position.

Fall Interns – Congressman Kurt Schrader (D-OR)
Congressman Kurt Schrader’s Washington D.C. office is now accepting internship applications for the fall term. Interns have the unique opportunity to gain hands on experience in a Congressional office and to provide assistance to the residents of Oregon’s 5th District. Ideal candidates are positive and energetic, have excellent people and organizational skills, and are eager to assist with the legislative and administrative needs of the staff. Sense of humor is required! Interns will be responsible for assisting the team with phones, mail, tours, flag-requests, and related front office duties. Additional tasks, including drafting correspondence, research projects, and attending hearings may be assigned on a case by case basis. Applicants should be available to work 4-5 days approximately 30 hours per week.
