Constituent Advocate/Caseworker – West Virginia Senate Democrat (Morgantown office)
Democratic Senator from West Virginia seeks long-term team member to work directly with constituents having problems or difficulties with the Federal Government (i.e. Veterans, Social Security, IRS, etc.). Job Summary:
Provide final scoping, editing, and proofreading of congressional committee hearing transcripts and various congressional proceedings while coordinating with the Official Reporters and Transcriber Team on the accuracy of all official documents compiled by the office. Responsible for the transcribing of stenotype notes by use of computer-aided transcription software on site in our Washington, D.C. offices. Produce, in a timely fashion, transcripts to be released to congressional staff and the general public, while maintaining the highest degree of confidentiality of secret and top secret documents.
Qualifications:
Temperament to communicate with a variety of personalities in a tactful, pleasant and professional manner. Ability to communicate clearly and concisely both orally and in writing. Must have extensive knowledge and experience in CaseCATalyst software as well as scoping and proofreading experience in a court reporting setting. Extensive familiarity with proper grammar, spelling, and transcript production. A national security clearance is required. This position is identified as a Testing Designated Position and is subject to random drug testing. Must have knowledge of the legislative process and the ability to work in an on-site team-oriented work environment. Must be competent in the operation of IBM-PC compatibles in a Windows Vista environment and be detail oriented.
