Paid Interns – Republican Study Committee

Want to intern for the conservative caucus in the U.S. House of Representatives (the Republican Study Committee) this fall (mid-August through December; dates flexible)? This isn’t your typical internship on the Hill. You’ll do policy research and writing, some of which could be seen directly by Members of Congress. You’ll also be in closed-door meetings with U.S. representatives and top elites throughout Washington, DC. Must be an across-the-board, activist-minded conservative. Small stipend available. Fall Intern – Congressman Chuck Fleischmann (R-TN)

Congressman Chuck Fleischmann has an unpaid internship position available immediately in his Washington, DC office.  Current undergraduate students, recent grads, and graduate students are welcome to apply.  Duties include giving tours of the Capitol, answering phones, and providing general clerical support to staff.   Interns will also have an opportunity to attend committee hearings and conduct legislative research.  The ideal candidate will have writing experience, strong organizational skills, and a high degree of professionalism.  Interns will gain exposure to the inner workings of the Legislative branch of government in addition to professional office experience.  We are happy to consider part-time internship applicants, but we ask for a minimum commitment of 2 months, 2 – 3 days per week.  Full-time internship applications are given preference.  To apply, please email a resume and cover letter to email hidden; JavaScript is required with “Fall Internship” and your name in the subject line.

Constituent Advocate/Caseworker – West Virginia Senate Democrat (Martinsburg office)

Democratic Senator from West Virginia seeks long-term team member to work directly with constituents having problems or difficulties with the Federal Government (i.e. Veterans, Social Security, IRS, etc.). Responsibilities will include answering casework correspondence and oral communications from constituents; communicating with various levels of government officials to apprise them of constituents’ problems and assist in their resolution; and contacting agencies, via telephone and letter, to obtain information to assist constituents.   Additional responsibilities include monitoring casework for problems which might be resolved by legislative action and developing and maintaining relationships with local businesses, governments, and community organizations to provide assistance/intervention regarding appropriate actions.  The candidate may occasionally represent the Senator at hearings, meetings, or other functions where particular casework problems are under discussion. The ideal candidate is compassionate, service-oriented, will have excellent oral and written communication skills, and the ability to perform efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Scheduler – North Carolina House Republican

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: scheduling an active Member of Congress in both Washington and North Carolina, making travel arrangements for the member and staff, driving the member to events and completing other clerical work.
