Fall Interns – Senator Joe Lieberman (ID-CT)

The Office of Senator Lieberman (ID-CT) seeks undergraduate students or recent graduates for a semester internship beginning in September and lasting through mid-December 2012 to assist a professional staffers. Responsibilities include a range of administrative tasks, conducting research and Capitol Tours. Press Secretary – Southern House Republican

Southern conservative House member seeks a Press Secretary to independently handle a wide range of press and media activities. This individual must possess excellent oral and written communication skills, an acute attention to detail, and the ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment. This individual must be confident and well spoken, and should possess strong interpersonal skills and a willingness to work in a team environment. Qualified candidates will be able to demonstrate an assertive and organized approach when pitching, preparing, and performing media projects.

Responsibilities will include drafting public statements, speeches, and articles on legislation, public policy, and current events; pitching news stories to local, state, and national media organizations, managing the member’s web site and social media sites (Facebook, Twitter, and Flickr); publishing media advisories in advance of district travel; producing weekly video messages; drafting, editing, and publishing a weekly column; editing constituent mail; and building and maintaining relationships with state and local media outlets. Qualified applicants will have a willingness and capacity to stay current on relevant policy issues. This position is based in the Washington, D.C., office, but some in-state travel may be required.

The Press Secretary will report directly to the Chief of Staff. This is not an entry-level press position and three years or more of relevant communications experience is preferred. Interns – House Democratic Caucus

The House Democratic Caucus offers full-time Internships year-round, based on immediate openings. Successful applicants will be bright, highly motivated and have strong academic records, as well as an interest in public policy. Interns will perform a variety of duties that are essential to the Caucus. These range from administrative duties such as answering phones and data entry, to assisting the staff in a variety of functions, including performing research, attending briefings, and preparing the Caucus’ many events. Interns will also interact with Members of Congress regularly, and are expected to uphold the Caucus’ high standards of conduct. Candidates must be flexible and capable of working in an unpredictable, fast-paced environment.

Eligibility:  The House Democratic Caucus seeks full-time interns, only. All current undergraduates and recent graduates who are available for a full-time position are encouraged to apply.

Congressman Tom McClintock (CA-04) is looking for full or part time fall interns for his Washington D.C. office.  Applicants should possess conservative values and hold strong written and verbal communication skills.  Duties include (but are not limited to) performing administrative tasks, attending Congressional hearings, leading Capitol tours, answering phones, sorting mail, and assisting legislative staff with research.  Start and end dates are negotiable. While this is an unpaid internship, we are happy to work with current students looking to receive college credit for their internship.
