Fall Interns – Nevada House Republican

Nevada Republican seeks a legislative intern for Fall 2012 (August- December). Interns will work in a fast-paced Congressional Office, gaining valuable exposure and knowledge of the legislative process and the United States Congress. Intern responsibilities include greeting constituents, handling constituent phone calls, opening and sorting mail, and assisting staff with administrative tasks. Interns will also have the opportunity to conduct legislative research, and assist with correspondence, as well as attend some Capitol Hill briefings, congressional hearings, receptions, and press events. Requirements: Interns must have a good attitude, strong work ethic, and excellent written and oral communication skills. Successful interns will be able to find information with little assistance, be able to work both independently as well as part of a team environment, and with strong attention to detail. Applicants should have working knowledge of current events and policy topics, as well as a willingness to do mundane tasks as needed. Third Congressional District residency preferred; however, candidates from outside the state will also be considered. Community Outreach Coordinator/Caseworker – Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC)

Senior Democratic Member of Congress seeks an energetic, organized, creative, self-starter to join the team of her very active and visible constituent services staff.

Constituent Services staff assists the Member in responding to constituent issues and problems with federal agencies, staying on top of everyday events in the Member’s district, and keeping the community connected to the Member’s work. The Community Outreach Coordinator/Caseworker is primarily responsible for: casework as assigned, coordination of participation in community organized events, coordination of Member specific neighborhood events and developing a working relationship with community leaders.

Candidate must be able to handle multiple tasks while responding to constituent requests, mail, and concerns. The office prizes staff able to think outside the box and work independently while also being available to assist in co-worker projects where necessary or requested. Prior community or casework experience is preferred. The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree, significant experience interacting with the public, excellent writing and communication skills. Candidate must be a resident of the District of Columbia or willing to move immediately to DC if hired.

Press Secretary – Southern Senate Democrat

Moderate Southern Democratic Senator seeks experienced Hill communications staffer with excellent writing and editing skills, new media proficiency, honed media relations skills, event management experience and strategic planning capacity. He/she will write speeches, press releases and advisories, talking points, briefing memos, newsletters, video scripts and Web content.
