The state office of a Western Democratic Senator is seeking a self-starter with enthusiasm for creative communications in the digital space. Candidates must have a familiarity with the convergence of social media and traditional press communications and an interest in employing emerging online communication tools to improve communication with constituents. The position reports to the communications director and coordinates with the deputy communications director, other press staff as well as legislative and regional staff for content and message cohesion. The position directs and manages online strategy, media and communications. The position also tracks the public’s use of the office’s social media and adapts to emerging trends. Duties include managing social media profiles and the Web site, producing web videos, drafting the office’s newsletters, writing news releases, and other projects as assigned. Moderate Democratic Senator seeks an enthusiastic, self-motivated Press Assistant to join a dynamic and aggressive press shop.  This individual will be responsible for overseeing the compilation of daily press clips, maintaining state and national press lists, managing regular outreach to college media and weekly newspapers, and other duties as assigned. Candidates must have demonstrated writing skills and experience, work well as part of a team, and be comfortable working in a deadline-driven environment. Some travel in the state may be involved. Spanish language skills a plus.
