Press Intern – House Judiciary Committee (majority)

The Majority Staff of the House Judiciary Committee seeks an energetic candidate for an unpaid press internship to assist press staff in a fast-paced communications office. The press intern will work closely with the Communications Director, Press Secretary, and Deputy Press Secretary on a variety of tasks. Responsibilities include assisting press staff in monitoring relevant press coverage, clipping and distribution of relevant news stories, drafting press materials and working with the communications office on other media-related projects. The ideal candidate will possess excellent writing and research skills, an interest in public policy, mature judgment, and the ability to work under deadline pressure. Previous experience in politics is not required but candidates should have a general understanding of the governmental process and the ability to demonstrate professionalism and discretion at all times. Prior press or on-the-job writing experience is desirable. Part-time interns will also be considered but candidates with full-time availability will be given preference. Press Assistant – Texas House Republican

Congressman Mac Thornberry (TX-13) is seeking qualified candidates for the Press Assistant position in his Washington, DC office.  Qualified candidates should be strong writers, possess the ability to work on several projects simultaneously, and be able to communicate clearly in a team-oriented environment.  The Press Assistant will report directly to Congressman Thornberry’s Communications Director.  Prior press experience and Texas ties are preferred. Congressman Jim Sensenbrenner (WI-05) is seeking a Legislative Assistant to handle a variety of issue areas and monitor developments throughout the legislative process. Person will likely be responsible for issues relating to budget, and taxes but candidate selection is not issue-driven. Candidate must be fiscal/socially conservative, with strong writing abilities. Position requires that the individual draft write floor speeches, timely and effective constituent correspondence, and other policy-related documents. Wisconsin ties are preferred.
