Staff Assistant/Legislative Correspondent – Southern House Republican

Southern Republican Member seeks Staff Assistant/Legislative Correspondent to greet visitors, answer the telephone and respond to constituent requests for general information, tours and the Member’s position on legislation. The position oversees the office’s mail system, including processing constituent mail, drafting responses to constituent requests for information, and writing targeted letters and electronic newsletters. In addition, the position oversees the office intern program, including the hiring, training and managing of semester-based interns, and has front office responsibilities. While in session, early mornings and/or late evenings are required. Must be tactful, professional, and detail-oriented. Must work well under pressure and short deadlines. Southern Conservative Republican is seeking a highly motivated, organized and strategic-thinking wordsmith to serve as Press Secretary. Experience dealing with media strongly preferred. Responsibilities include: managing Member’s interaction with the media; composing op-eds, speeches, press releases, and e-newsletters; manage and grow Member’s social media presence; develop comprehensive communication strategy. Applicant should be able to work well under pressure and be able to commit to at least a year to the job. Experience with video production and/or web design a plus. Hill experience preferred.
