United States Senate legal office of seven attorneys who defend Senate offices in employment law cases has outstanding legal IT opportunity. This is a non-partisan, lead position. Individual will be expected to work independently. Primary responsibility for maintaining, updating, and administering the office’s networked computer systems, managing the office’s e-discovery system and litigation database, troubleshooting and solving software problems, and effectively recommending system modifications and software upgrades. Advise attorneys on legal and technical issues relating to information technology and electronic discovery; supervise and provide guidance to paralegals with respect to electronic litigation requirements; train and assist attorneys and staff in the use of all software; draft training material to assist users. Assist attorneys with creation and implementation of plans for the retention, collection, culling and production of electronically stored information in lawsuits. Prepare for and attend court with attorneys; testify in court and at administrative hearings on behalf of Senate offices on issues of data collection, storage, retrieval and production. Design and be able to implement procedures to allow secure access to office’s electronic databases in the event of emergency relocation. Work is bound by federal statutes, court rules, Senate rules and standard office procedures and protocol. Requires independent judgment in setting priorities and handling unusual assignments, absolute adherence to confidentiality and attorney-client privilege requirements, and ability to work occasionally outside of standard office hours, including early mornings, late nights, and weekends, when needed. Minimum of five years of analogous experience, preferably in a major law firm. Experience working with document management systems, Summation, and Microsoft Exchange server is preferred. Job Summary:
