Outreach Coordinator/Webmaster – Senate Committee (majority)

Ocean Policy Fellow – Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee (majority)

The Majority Staff of the Senate Commerce, Science and Transportation Committee is seeking a legislative fellow to assist Committee staff with various ocean science and policy issues.  Issues of focus will include management of fisheries and other marine living resources; weather, climate science; oil spill prevention, response, and restoration; marine sanctuaries; national ocean policy; and corresponding programs and offices within the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA).  Responsibilities will include coordination and design of oversight and legislative hearings; drafting of background memos for hearings and executive sessions; and development, review, and analysis of ocean legislation and NOAA budget.  Ideal candidate will have: a graduate degree in marine science; strong writing and communication skills; knowledge of Congressional organization and functions; and ability to work in collaborative environment.  This is an unpaid fellowship.  Full-time preferred (willing to oversee work for academic course credit), but part-time considered with a minimum commitment of 20 hours per week.  Email cover letter and resume to email hidden; JavaScript is required with “Ocean Policy Fellow” in the subject line.

Communications Director – South Dakota House Republican

Rep. Kristi Noem (R-SD) is seeking an experienced Communications Director to work in her Washington, DC office.  Candidates should have at least two years experience as a Press Secretary, Communications Director or relevant senior-level position in the private sector.

Candidates must have on-the-record experience, knowledge of the legislative process, be an excellent writer and editor, and have a proven record of accomplishment with local/regional as well as national media.  South Dakota ties preferred; Plains/Midwest ties a plus.

Systems Administrator – Senate Republican

Republican Senator is seeking an experienced Systems Administrator to facilitate the office’s technological infrastructure. This position also updates and maintains computer systems and methods to process, manage and store all computer data for the office; troubleshoots any problems, assists with updating the web page and other technical assistance.  A bachelor’s degree in computer science and a working knowledge of Windows and MAC with Hill experience preferred.  A positive can-do attitude and ability to work well with others is an absolute must. Media Intern – Texas House Republican

The office of Congressman Blake Farenthold (TX-27) is looking for a new media intern for the spring and summer of 2012 for our Washington, D.C. office. We are looking for highly qualified candidates that are motivated, detail-oriented, and personable. The ideal candidates will have a background in journalism or public relations with a new media focus and a strong interest in digital media. A basic knowledge of graphic design, video, audio, and/or photography and editing in those mediums is a must (i.e. PhotoShop, Premier Plus, etc). Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: drafting/distributing social media posts; monitoring social media and other news sources; attending press conferences & briefings; and working with the Press Secretary on photography and editing.
