Legislative Assistant – New York House Democrat
Congresswoman Nita Lowey (NY18), senior House Appropriations Subcommittee Member, seeks experienced and hard-working legislative assistant to handle transportation, environment, energy, housing, agriculture, census, and corresponding appropriations issues. Legislative Correspondent – Missouri Senate Democrat
Senator Claire McCaskill is looking for a Legislative Correspondent to work on healthcare, seniors, women and children’s issues, judiciary issues, campaign finance reform and civil rights issues. Primary duties are to sort, research and respond to constituent mail. LC will also assist Legislative Assistants responsible for these issues and may help prepare for hearings, as well as attend briefings and meet with constituent groups. Intern – Florida House Republican
Congressman Bill Posey (R-FL-15) has a full-time, unpaid internship available for the 2012 Spring Session in his Washington, DC office beginning asap. Duties include but are not limited to answering telephones, greeting visitors, conducting tours of the Capitol, researching legislative issues, writing letters and working with our mail database system. There will also be opportunities to experience Washington DC and cultivate your interest in American government by attending briefings, hearings, and classes. Qualified candidates should possess excellent organizational and communication skills, should have a positive attitude, and a strong work ethic. Although internships are unpaid, our office is happy to fill out any necessary forms for students to receive credit at their respective college or university. Overall responsibilities include maintaining the Congressman’s official schedule and managing a range of administrative functions relative to the operations of the office.
Candidate must possess previous experience in scheduling, familiar with general office operations, strong phone skills, excellent verbal and written communication skills, be organized and detail oriented, have excellent interpersonal skills, and the ability to work in a fast paced office environment and a keen interest in the political process.
