Northern California Member of Congress seeking qualified candidates for Scheduler/Executive Assistant in fast-paced Washington, D.C. office. Responsibilities will include maintaining the Member’s daily and long-term schedule in D.C., organizing and tracking invitations, speaking engagements and scheduling requests, and coordinating travel arrangements. In addition, the scheduler/executive assistant will be responsible for distributing briefings, handling the Member’s personal correspondence and various additional administrative duties which include vouchering: budget management, maintaining office supplies and other tasks as assigned by the Chief of Staff. Candidates must be highly organized and detail oriented, able to multi-task and work under tight deadlines, have outstanding verbal and written communications skills and a good sense of humor. Previous Capitol Hill scheduling or full-time executive assistant experience (or equivalent) is strongly preferred. California ties are a plus. Salary is commensurate with experience.

Responsibilities include policy and legal analysis; investigation of agency activities; preparation of various legal memoranda and letters to federal agencies; and the conduct of hearings.
Desired Skills & Experience
Qualified candidates will have a solid understanding of the federal regulatory process, including the Administrative Procedure Act and relevant Executive Orders, and 4+ years of experience related to analysis of federal reglations, whether in a private law firm, trade association, or federal agency. Excellent analytical, organizational, and oral and written communication skills required. Hill experience and/or understanding of legislative process desired.
The U.S. House of Representatives’ Committee on Small Business is chaired by Representative Sam Graves (R-MO) and is responsible for overseeing assistance to and protection of small businesses, including financial aid, regulatory flexibility, and paperwork reduction policies. Further, the Committee oversees the participation of small enterprises in federal procurement and government contracts.
Progressive Southern California Member seeks proactive Press Assistant. Press Assistant will help manage DC and legislative based press, such as writing releases and Op-Eds on tight deadlines, arranging DC interviews, scheduling and organizing DC press events, managing the Member’s website, Facebook, and Twitter accounts, creating a mail outreach plan for the year, and collaborating on weekly e-newsletters.
The individual will work in coordination with the district communications staffer to develop and implement a strategic communications plan and identify new and emerging press opportunities, including social media. Strong written, oral communication and messaging skills, along with the ability to work in a fast-paced and pressured environment, are absolute musts.
