Legislative Director – Congressman-elect Blake Farenthold (R-TX)

Congressman-elect Blake Farenthold (TX-27) is now accepting applications for the position of Legislative Director. Candidate will be responsible for overseeing the Congressman’s legislative agenda and legislative operations. The individual must have excellent writing skills and knowledge of the legislative process. Must be able to enforce a strict turnaround time for constituent mail and be aggressive in developing legislative proposals. At least two years of experience as a Legislative Assistant. Senior Health Policy Advisor – Senate HELP Committee (D)

The Majority Health Policy Office of the Senate Health, Education, Labor and Pensions Committee is seeking a senior health policy advisor. The portfolio for this position focuses FDA issues, including the reauthorization of the user fee programs for drugs and medical devices; animal drug issues; antibiotic resistance; lab issues; personalized medicine; 340b; and implementation of the quality title and comparative effectiveness research provisions of the Affordable Care Act. Candidates with a strong knowledge of the Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act are encouraged to apply. Responsibilities include negotiating and drafting legislation, conducting oversight of the implementation of the health reform law, researching and developing policy, working with advocates, industry and constituents, preparing for hearings, drafting memos, speeches, and talking points. Interested applicants must be strong writers and independent self-starters who are able to multi-task and work well in a very fast-paced environment.
