Legislative Correspondent – Senator Claire McCaskill (D-MO)
Senator Claire McCaskill is looking for a Legislative Correspondent to work on national security issues to include defense, homeland security, foreign affairs, intelligence and veterans. Primary duties are to sort, research and respond to constituent mail. LC will also assist Legislative Assistants responsible for these issues, including work associated with the Senator’s membership on the Armed Services Committee. LC may help prepare for hearings, attend briefings and meet with constituent groups. Applicants should be resourceful, organized and dependable. Strong writing skills are essential. Applicants with Missouri or Midwest roots and prior military service are encouraged to apply. Senior Legislative Assistant/Counsel – House Democrat
Senior Progressive Ways and Means member is seeking a Senior Legislative Assistant/Counsel to work in fast-paced office on Foreign Policy and National Security issues with a focus on Central Asia. This is not an entry level position. Position requires an advanced degree, work experience in the military, intelligence services or foreign service, experience traveling and living abroad, and/or substantial hill experience working on foreign policy and national security legislation. JD desired but not required. Portfolio will also include veterans and other issues. The successful candidate will have experience working effectively in large organizations, be a team player, a creative thinker, have a record of building relationships and coalitions, and have a demonstrated ability to develop and lead new initiatives.
