Chief of Staff – California Democrat

Senior Democrat/subcommittee chair seeks Chief of Staff.  The position serves as the Member’s chief policy advisor and manages D.C. personnel
and office finances.  He/she supervises a D.C. staff of nine, interacts closely with the subcommittee staff and coordinates with a district office staff of seven.

Position requires excellent management skills, ability to delegate and the capacity to keep track of and follow-up on dozens of tasks. Ability to manage busy staff to ensure a smooth running office is critical.  Prefer a candidate who has been a Chief of Staff or Legislative Director for a Member of Congress or a senior aide to a U.S. Senator. Candidate must be willing to work long hours and in pressure situations.

Legislative Assistant – Congresswoman Stephanie Herseth Sandlin (D-SD)

Moderate Midwestern Democrat, and member of the Natural Resources Committee, seeks an experienced Legislative Assistant to handle broad Native American issue portfolio.  The position requires exceptional writing and organizational skills, knowledge of the legislative process including committee work, and experience with a range of issues important in Indian Country.  Familiarity with South Dakota and/ or Upper Great Plains tribes is preferred. Scheduler – Southern House Republican
